Church 1011 Washington Avenue. -Snell, 88, a Johnson County native, Ballard High School graduate, Bibb County, decorated World War II Veteran, Trinity C.M.E. Church member, devoted husband and father, and retired Bibb County employee passed March 22, 2010. -Survivors include Mrs. Mazie H. Snell, Macon; children, Evan (George) Brown, Augusta, Jessie (Cynthia) Snell, Jr., Milton (Bonita) Snell, Ezzard (Heide) Snell, Atty. Bernard (Shefaye) Snell, all of Macon, Charlie (Gail) Snell, Christopher (Artansa) Snell, both of Jonesboro, GA and Dr. Sharon S. Jordan, McDonough, GA; one sister, Doris (Robert) Neal, Sr., Louisville, GA; twenty -one grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. -The family will greet friends on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Bentley & Sons Funeral Home, 2714 Montpelier Avenue. -Services entrusted to Bentley & Sons Funeral Home, Macon. Evangelist Doris Neal

 Evangelist. Doris Margaret Snell Neal, 79 of 322 Garvin Ave, Louisville, departed this life Thursday, April 15, 2010.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stone Springfield AME Church, Louisville and Mt. Pleasant CME Cemetery, Bartow

Evangelist Neal was a native of Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Mark Samuel and Ella Mae Daniels Snell. She was educated in the Jefferson County School system and for many years worked and Jefferson County Shirt Company and later the Jefferson County Schools as a paraprofessional. She joined the Adams Chapel Church of God in Christ and served faithfully for over thirty years as church secretary. She was an ordained and licensed Evangelist that took the time to spread the word in the community and in many homes. She was one of the founders of The Holy Temple located in Wrens, GA that is responsible for many of ministers in the Jefferson County area.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lewis Neal, Sr. of Louisville; her children, Mary Elizabeth Purdis of Hephzibah, GA, Robert Lewis (Cynthia) Neal, Jr., Ronnie Neal of Louisville and one step son, Willie E. Fields of Warner Robins, GA; sixteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren; brother-in-law, L. W. (Katie) Sherrod of Louisville; sister-in-law, Maxie Snell of Macon, GA; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Obituary

 

Larry Lorenzo Horne was born The son of Honey Horne on July 21,1948   in Cleveland, Ohio   Larry came home to the loving arms of both Honey and Aunt Bessie who was eagerly waiting for his arrival   Larry received his formal education in the Cleveland Public School system.  Around 1963 at the age of 14 or 15 Larry became a part of a do whop group.  Little did these young singers know at the time that something bigger than they were at work.  Those young men became inseparable brothers for life.  Jimmy Shepherd (deceased 3/10/1972) Van Player (deceased 3/17/1975), James Chatmon (deceased 10/9/2006), Larry Horne (deceased 6/12/2009), and now, the last man standing Ronald B.Willis, of Atlanta Georgia.   Shortly after leaving East High School and during the turbulent time of the Vietnam War, Larry and friend Van Player enlisted in the United States Navel Services. Larry returned home with an honorable discharge and immediately enrolled in and completed a course in welding at the Airco Welding School.  Around the mid 60’s,during Larry’s tour 

Larry departed this life suddenly early Friday Morning June ,12,2009

Larry was preceded in death by his Aunt Bessie, Mother, Honey, Mother of his sons, Donna Price,
